Paediatric/Children's Nursing. Need Some Advice On Choosing The Right Course?

These are a few different courses which I found from the UCAS website but I don't know the difference between them. Like which one is the best one and will most likely help me become a children's nurse in the future. And if you know what the differences are could you please let me know. Thank You =)

Children's Nursing (3360) 3FT DNM DipNurse
Children's Nursing (2yr Programme) (3310) 2FT GDN DipNurse
Children's Nursing (RN) (B730) 3FT Hon BSc
Children's Nursing (3360) 3FT DNM DipNurse
Children's Nursing (Advanced Diploma) (3360) 3FT ADN Dip Nurse
Nursing (Children with NMC Registration) (3360) 3FT DNM Dip Nurse
Nursing Pre-Registration Child (B730) 3FT Hon BSc

3FT means three year full time,

Dip means it's a diploma course,

Hon BSc means this is the degree course,

Ignore number 2 unless you are already a qualified nurse, or have already completed the first year foundation programme. (This option is for nurses who wish to switch to the child branch).

The "best" is to do a degree programme, either number 3 or number 7. If you have the entry requirements to do the degree then you should go for it. The diploma courses will also qualify you to be a nurse at the end, but in the future you may need to have a degree in order to progress in your career.

The difference is that at degree level your assignments will be marked at a higher level, and you would have to complete a dissertation at the end. Apart from that, both the degree and diploma have the same level of training

  • Nursing is a brilliant profession, I have met many lovely nurses in my lifetime, both men and women. My daughter stumbled upon some brilliant tips and tricks about it on the site in the box below, and now she is in her first term of training.
