Job Center, Signing On for benefits?

Well., Im Going To The Job Center to sign on for job seekers allowance and I was wondering what i have to bring as in : -passports, letters?

First you need to call on 08000556688 to make a claim for Jobseeker's Allowance and to arrange an interview.

You'll need to have some details ready before your claim is taken :

Current and/or previous work history for last six months.Such as details of employers dates when you started and finished.

P45 (if you have one)

Bank account details

Student loan details if you've left uni recently

Amount of savings/investments (including bank balance)


You will be told what documents you need to bring to your interview.Passport will be required,

  I did that and I brang my passport and my bank statement oh and you also have to bring your qulification details but now I am at college so had to sign off. Yes you have to make an appointment.
• They should have told you on the phone when they made your appointment. I had to take my passport and driving licence (as that has my address on) and a P45. If you don't have a P45 they said to take a P60 or previous wage slips.
• No, you go in to make an appointment to see someone. You will be told, at the first visit, what you need to take when you turn up for your appointment.
• I think your National Insurance number is pretty important and I think they will want proof of your address a recent bill or two and it can't hurt to take your passport along.
• usually they ask for 2 forms of ID so a passport & a letter with your address would be fine, though too be honest when I went they only looked at the passport!
