Can a 16year old work using industrial catering equipment ie cappucino machine?

Yes legally they can. I had 15 year olds in my catering business using one every day, and the 14 year olds did on occasions. It was my responsibility to make sure they did not harm themselves. This is in the UK, and the kids worked in their school holidays and at weekends.

• I suppose this would be state/country specific because in California, the answer would be no. Anyone under the age of 18 cannot so much as put cardboard in the bailer (large machine that compresses cardboard), much less operate it by closing the lid and pressing the button.
