Resolved Question
How much does a doctor get paid?
I'm so confused because there is such a large range. So if you're lovely enough to answer, please include details about which type of doctor and private/public :) Thanks! x

for the first few years they make very little, a rough guess is about 40 grand. But remember they are working at least 80 hours a week (so they make less than minimum wage) and they owe maybe 150,000 in student loans depending on where they went to med school.
So after an intern year and 2 or 3 years of residency they become fellows and the pay grows exponentially. Then after a fellowship they become attendings and thats when they make the big bucks, 200k a year (again an estimate depending on private/public and location).
Also. Being a doctor sucks. They spend 7 years in school, then the next 5 at the hospital all the time, so basically their 20s and early 30s are gone. They work extremely hard and are rarely appreciated.

- Yes it is a large range, depending of experience, location, specialitiy, level etc. Here is a list of salaries from the British Medical Journal, hope this helps. Of course if you are asking from outside the UK, this won't help at all, so sorry about that.
http://careers.bmj.com/careers/static/ad… - Usually, doctors are paid with money. Some doctors are paid with chickens.
- Too much for what they do.
- I dont know, but all the doctors I know have good cars and BIG houses!!
