Is it a lonely job being a manager?

Resolved Question

Is it a lonely job being a manager?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I have worked under 2 managers who were isolated (and I suspect lonely). I have also been a manager and had to face staff discord, but no I was never lonely and the more go ahead of my staff were firmly on my side even when they had not been originally. You won't have 'buddies', but you will find intelligent equals who may somewhere, sometime have better job than you.

And in a sense, you will have taught them.

  • Too many unknowns.
    What level?
    What company?
    What workforce?

It's a job and it depends on how you handle the job. I've been a manager and managed to get on with the workforce and the other managers, but I prefer to do hands on work. That's why I'm self employed.
  • It SHOULD be, it's a job not a friggin social network!
