My Job over-paid me. Is it stealing to not let them know?

Resolved Question

My Job over-paid me. Is it stealing to not let them know?

I worked an odd shift one week last month which was worth around £60 but I was paid around £260. I'm going to check my slip and see whether or not it's on there but I'm pretty sure it's just a mistake on their parts..

Yes, really it would be stealing. Also embarrassing when they find the mistake (and they probably will) and ask you about it and you didn't already tell them. In any case, don't spend it, you'll have to give it back.

  • I had my IT department to discombobulate your qt and see you work for my company

It certainly is not, because to correct this error will cost us more than the overpayment
  • Do the right thing. Give the money back. Just remember Karma.
  • Not stealing, but you have to inform them of there mistake..that's the law
  • they will find out if they did over pay you, and they will want it back
