If two people were identical in every way, including personality and qualifications except...?

Resolved Question

If two people were identical in every way, including personality and qualifications except...?

One has a GCSE in Spanish and the other had a GCSE in Business Studies. If they bother applied for a job (that could be anything). who do you think would get the job. REMEMBER THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH IDENTICAL

Additional Details

I picked Spanish as an option and already have a B in GCSE French

It really depends on what job but I'd rather employ someone with Spanish, languages are becoming more and more appreciated among employers. x

Jesse, business studies at GCSE level really doesn't teach too much about how to run a sucessful business, it was the most pointless GCSE I took. x

  • I can't imagine a case that wouldn't be more influenced by personality (and there's no way two people are identical in personality).

And the nature of the job would definitely affect which degree was more relevant. In just about any job, a second language would be very, very useful, in some jobs, it's essential.

Business Studies always seems so bland and vague to me -- as if the person didn't' really know what they wanted to do or what interested them.
  • the one who performs better at the interview, interviews are an art form.
theres nothing between them, the interviewers probably dont have a preference of a language gcse or a business gcse, they might, but its very very unlikely.
but yeah, more than one gcse, 5 good (A-C) is the minimum usually including english and maths.

oh and as for the best languages as a cv booster in the UK:
    Mandarin>French or German> Spanish
its still good mind you, not terribly useful only at gcse level however, good to go further with it, maybe.

as for picking the easy option, im curious, since in my day a modern foreign language was compulsary, I did both spanish and business studies.

tengo un bocadillo de queso y jamon.
  • Definitely the one with Spanish. (though it'd matter more at a-level, obv)

Most employers like languages because they're so rare in Britain nowadays, and they also show more hard work than business studies which is quite widely seen as a skive (sorry to whoever is doing Bus Man in school). You'd be much more likely accepted onto a business degree with Spanish than business studies - Spanish is not only one of the biggest languages in Business, but also Business Studies might make you look like you went for the easy option.

  • I'd say Business studies is more important.
