I had this exact same problem. I did mine in a pharmacy at Tesco. It was really interesting considering how boring it may sound. If you looking for experience over the summer i would get in now and send out a few letters. If you leave it too late people are not keen on the idea...it takes about two months for an application to go through any company so get onto it now :)

Can my boss cut my hours and pay for one week only?

My boss told me because of a heating problem,the hours and pay are being cut for one week. Is my boss able to do this leagally ?

• if your transport infrastructure was poor, or you needed to attend meetings, or clients then a driving license would be beneficial unless you are fortunate to have a chauffeur

Applied for a job application a week or so ago and havn't heard anything, i had to apply via email. And they gave no contact number...what should i do now? Go onto there public website and call them from there main number it has there? And then say what? Im nervous on the phone so what should i say? And who should i ask for? Thanks in advance x

I've just started working as a Health Care Assistant at a hospital and don't like it...?

I'm 17 and suffer from anxiety and I'm not enjoying going. I have to be back there tomorrow and I've been in tears because I don't want to go back but I'm scared to tell anyone that I really don't like it. I wanted my family to be proud of me but if I tell them I don't want to do it anymore and pull out of the course, then I'll have nothing to do. I came out of college to do the course and I won't know what to do from there. What do you think I should do?

I think that perhaps you should stick it out for a bit longer and see what happens. I've worked in situations that I haven't liked to begin with, but after a while, things have begun to improve and I have gained from the experience.

Working in a hospital can be scary at times, especially if you're new, but it can also be very rewarding and will give you some valuable life experience.

When I first started my nurse training I was terrified, but after a while I started to enjoy it and met some wonderful people along the way.

Please try to give yourself just a little bit longer. If you're anxiety is very bad then see your doctor and ask for some Propranolol - this is a beta blocker drug and will block the action of adrenaline on the heart - this will relax you and make you feel calmer. It is non addictive and safe and you can come off it when you feel better.

I hope you start to feel better soon. Remember that sometimes the things that scare us the most can lead to us being stronger people in the long run if we have the courage to face them.

• Don't spend your life doing something you don't like, but also don't give up too easily on too many things either. At some times, in some situations, in some places, you just have to Cowboy Up and work through what you don't want to, at the very least to convince yourself and others that you've given it your best effort.

• I know it's hard, but go in tomorrow because you have done it once and you can do it again. Try and take it an hour at a time. Saying I will just get through this hour. At the same time you will be helping people which will take your mind off problems-and you can do it! After you get through that day you will be proud of yourself. Try hard not to think outside of the day if you can. We can only live in one day at a time-and if we try and think like that we are not overawed by the seeming endless labour in the years ahead. Oh a prayer to God will help-I guarantee it. You are His daughter after all and He loves you!

• there is no point in carrying on, you need to go back to college and tell them and see if you can find anything else, child care, teaching assistant, even till operator in tesco, health and beauty,or as daft as it might seem, maybe even bricklaying or painting and decorating, see if there is anything suitable
• your family will be supportive of whatever your choice is, if your 17 i shouldnt worry about it...theres plenty more options for you to do, theres people goingon 30 that still dont no what they want to do... if you dont like it then quit.. then focus on the things you like until you get inspired to try something else.

  SO MY BEST ADVICE IS TO EXPLAIN TO UR PARENTS HOW UR FEELING AND GO BACK TO COLLEGE AND DO SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT TO DO ...IF COLLEGE IS NOT THE THING FOR YOU AND YOU DONT THINK U CAN DEDICATE URSELF TO UR WORK FOR 2 YEAQRS (ASSOCIATE DEGREE) OR 4 YEARS(BACHELORS DEGREE) THEN JUST GO TO A TECHNICAL INSTITUTE AND DO A SHORT PROGRAM AND GET A DIPLOMA(1 YEAR) OR A CERTIFICATE OF CREDIT( SOME PROGRAMS ARE AS SHORT AS 2-3 MONTHS)
  
  THERE IS ALWAYS SOME OTHER OPTION. UR ONLY SEVENTEEN..U HAVE TIME ...MAKE THE BEST OF IT

really anywhere that offers an apprenticeship, like trades people and the like

• No where at all unless they receive government grants. Do not forget that education and training institutions are corporations and businesses like everywhere else. Like all of them, they claim to give you the proper training and qualifications for jobs, but they do not guarantee employment or job training and they fail to emphasize before they take your money that businesses are only looking for experience now and days and care less and less about education and job training.

Where to work with animals in London??? Please HELP!?

I don't have any experience working with animals but I love them and am desperate to find somewhere where I could get a chance working in an animal based environment without previous experience.
Where could I find places like that in London.
Could you suggest any websites?
Are you working with animals and could give me an advice how to get into this kind of job?

Perhaps you could volunteer at one of the animal rescue centres to get some experience and then look for paid work.

• you do not say how old you are, so i have to ask, are you old enough to work with animals, and bear in mind you have the nasty side too, such as poop cleaning, feeding, etc
