The Jobcentre gave me a voucher to give to prospective employers to encourage them to give me a job-does this?

mean they think I'm a lost cause?The voucher says the employer who gives me a job gets £500 with I think another payment after 6 months.What's going on?

yeah it's to help the long term unemployed.
but it just means someone else won't get the job and will have to sign on

so what's the point.

• This doesn't mean they think you're a lost cause, no. I believe this is an incentive for employers to recruit through the job centre, rather than through other means.
  
  So they have 2 candidates, both equally capable of doing the job. One has applied through the job centre, one through an advert in the local newspaper. They should take the one who has applied through the job centre as there is a financial incentive for the employer.

  The two other answers are right. Basically with people fighting to get work its just an extra push so that the employers hire you. If there's two people both can do the same skills but if they hire one the company gets a bonus...who do you think they will pick? Magic hey, dont worry about whether your a lost cause! Your not, just use this to get into work and then from there you can proof them wrong. Im on job seekers and i have heard of this. Also i have to say i am eligible for work trials, so they can hire me and dont have to pay me but the job centre does. Basically these sort of things get your foot in the door at least. So don't stress, hopefully you will get a job out of this.

• They don't think you're a lost cause they're just doing anything they can these days to get people off benefits and into work, it's good old fashioned bribary and it may well work. Best of luck!
